Instructions for Suuri-Valkiajärvi Cottage bookers

In summer 2020, Simmes Oy acquired this wonderful lakeside location on the clear-watered Lake Suuri-Valkiajärvi, Mäkräpolku 146, 56730 Laikko. This is the familiar log cabin and lakeside sauna built by the Simpele factories in the late 1940s, as well as a beautifully situated summer kitchen.

Cottage rental for 2024:

Rental price:

• 75 € / day, for a maximum of 10 persons. Companies/communities 200 €.
• 200 € / weekend (Fri-Mon), for a maximum of 10 persons. Companies/communities 400 €.
• 500 € / week, for a maximum of 10 persons
• Rental period begins on the day of arrival at 4 PM and ends on the day of departure by 12 PM.
• For weekend bookings, accommodation begins on Fri at 4 PM and ends on Mon at 12 PM.
• Keys are obtained with a code from the key cabinet (on the outer wall of the cottage) and are also returned there.

Equipment:

• In the cottage: two sofa beds (sleeping for four) and chairs + tables, an open fireplace, and a stove. Hob (gas-operated). Coffee pot, kettle, and other dishes.
• At the lakeside sauna: sauna facilities for approx. 10 people, a sofa bed in the fireplace room (sleeping for two), a stove, a table + benches, and a refrigerator. Terrace furniture on the outdoor porch.
• In the summer kitchen: a fireplace oven, a wood stove and a table + benches, and a refrigerator. Outside, a cauldron for open fire and a smoker. A 3-liter campfire coffee pot, a pancake pan, and pots.

PLEASE NOTE:

• DRINKING WATER MUST BE BROUGHT BY GUESTS. The main cottage does not have lake water or drains. The sauna has water from the lake via a hand pump.
• BASIC DISHES AND CUTLERY ONLY.
• LINEN AND TOWELS MUST BE BROUGHT BY GUESTS OR YOU CAN RENT THEM FROM THE COTTAGE FOR 20 € / person. (Please notify separately if you wish to rent linen + towels)
• ELECTRICITY IS PRODUCED BY SOLAR PANELS (NOTE: WEATHER-DEPENDENT ELECTRICITY PRODUCTION).
• FIREWOOD AND COMPOST TOILET ARE LOCATED IN THE STORAGE BUILDING.
• THE BUILDINGS AND THEIR SURROUNDINGS MUST BE TIDIED BEFORE DEPARTURE. FURNITURE MUST BE LEFT IN ITS CORRECT PLACE. WE CHECK THE COTTAGE BETWEEN RENTALS.
• WE WILL CHARGE FOR CLEANING AFTERWARDS IF NECESSARY (MINIMUM CHARGE 100 € + USED CLEANING TIME € / h).
• DISPOSABLE TABLEWARE IS AVAILABLE FROM THE UPPER COTTAGE KITCHEN CABINET IF NEEDED, FOR 20 € / BAG, WHICH CONTAINS A SELECTION OF DISHES + UTENSILS FOR 20 PEOPLE.

PRINCIPLES OF COTTAGE USE :

THE AIM IS TO KEEP THE COTTAGE RENTAL PRICE AFFORDABLE, ALLOWING AS MANY PEOPLE AS POSSIBLE TO ENJOY COTTAGE LIFE.

SIMMES' MAINTENANCE VISITS ARE KEPT TO A MINIMUM, WHICH MAKES LOW RENTAL PRICES POSSIBLE.

WE HOPE THAT THE COTTAGE BUILDINGS AND THEIR SURROUNDINGS ARE KEPT CLEAN AND PLEASANT BY THE USERS.

INSTRUCTIONS FOR A PLEASANT STAY :

1. Wash the house dishes and other utensils after use.
2. Please keep the surroundings tidy. There is a waste bin for mixed waste near the parking area, and a compost bin for organic waste slightly lower to the left. Other waste must be taken by the tenant to the regional collection point.
3. After sauna, empty the washbowls and turn them upside down, and add a couple of wood pieces to the stove so that the sauna and benches dry.
4. When leaving, empty the ashes from the fireplace, stove, sauna stove, and summer kitchen fireplaces. There is a separate metal ash container for ashes. Please handle hot ashes with care.
5. Before leaving, vacuum / sweep the floors, wipe surfaces, and shake out rugs.
6. When leaving, close all doors and windows.
7. Ensure that fireplace wood, sauna wood, matches, toilet paper, etc., are ready for the next arrivals.
8. It's pleasant to arrive at the cottage when everything is in order.
9. Please remember to tell us if anything is out of order or missing.
10. We respect the spirit of the old wilderness cottage and do not long for all modern conveniences there.
