On guided tours, you'll extensively explore the history and present day of the Hiitolanjoki (also known as Kokkolanjoki) river on foot, along with its hiking trails, hydropower rapids and free-flowing rapids, nature and activities, as well as the near future concerning restoration and tourism, all the way from Lake Ladoga to the headwaters of the water system and Lake Saimaa. Arrival and transfers with your own cars. Special attractions include the Lahnasenkoski hydropower plant museum, the Uudensilta backwater's submerged wood biorefinery, and the wilderness-like viewpoint of Silamusjoki. Your guide is Mikko Europaeus, a long-time special expert on the Hiitolanjoki river, researcher, non-fiction writer, test kayaker, project coordinator, and chairman of the Hiitolanjoki Association.

There is an opportunity for self-catering campfire meals at the Lahnanen campfire shelter or the Kangaskoski lean-to, in which case additional time must be reserved. Meals can also be arranged separately on-site for a group as an additional service; please ask for an offer.
