Suuri-Valkiajärvi Cottage

The cottage is located in a beautiful and peaceful spot, on the shore of the clear-watered Suuri-Valkiajärvi. This round-log cottage and lakeside sauna, familiar to locals, were built by Simpele factories in the late 1940s. Additionally, there is a summer kitchen located in a beautiful spot at the tip of a cape. The summer kitchen has a fireplace oven, a wood stove, an outdoor campfire site, and a smoker. Smoking salmon, making coffee with a sooty pot, and frying pancakes are easily done in the summer kitchen.

On the cottage shore, there is a wonderful, traditional, and spacious wood-heated sauna that can accommodate up to 10 people at once to enjoy the wonderfully gentle steam. From the sauna terrace, you can go directly to the pier and take a dip in the clear-watered Valkiajärvi. The sauna cabin has a stove, an oven, and a hot plate, as well as a refrigerator and a dining table. You can also stay overnight in the sauna cabin on a pull-out sofa bed for two people. The terrace has furniture for six people.

The main cottage has a small kitchenette, a gas stove, and basic tableware. The cottage is atmospherically heated by an open fireplace and a stove. The cottage has two pull-out sofa beds, so four people can sleep there. Electricity is generated by solar panels, so please note that it is weather-dependent. The cottage does not have running water, so drinking water must be brought by yourself. 

Pets are welcome in the cottage, but only on the floor. Pets are not allowed on sofas or beds.

We respect the spirit of the old wilderness cabin and do not expect all modern conveniences in the cottage.

The buildings and their surroundings must be cleaned before departure. Furniture must be left in its correct place.

Any cleaning services will be charged afterwards if necessary,

minimum charge 100 € + time spent on cleaning €/h.

Weekdays in 2026, minimum duration 2 nights, 155 € (77.50 €/night).

Weekend 235 € (cottage available Fri 4:00 PM - Mon 12:00 PM).

During high season, June 22 - Aug 16, 2026, the cottage is rented only on a weekly basis.

Changeover day is Monday. Price 520 € /week.
