Suuri-Valkiajärvi Cottage

A truly wonderful cottage location, by the clear-water lake. Fishing, cooking in the summer kitchen, and a nice campfire spot are available. Sleeping places in the cottage, as well as in the sauna cabin. We enjoyed ourselves very much. We watched a wagtail couple build their nest in the summer kitchen and drank good pot coffee.

A lovely place, the weather was windy this time, but we enjoyed our stay. The good steam from the sauna and the fireplaces in the cottages provided warmth.

A familiar, great cottage in a wonderful location. No disturbance from neighbors or motorboats. Good mushroom and berry picking spots within walking distance. And a pond with very clear water.

The cottage exceeded expectations. A wonderful and tidy, well-maintained place. The dogs had good swimming spots and safe space to romp around on the point.

The best feature of Suuri-Valkiajärvi cottage is its unique atmosphere and history. The place cannot and should not be compared to a typical summer cottage or rental cabin. You rarely see similar time-patinated and sturdy log structures in today's world. Minor shortcomings, for example in the practicality of the main building's kitchen, are compensated by the excellent location of the entire area, the peninsula-like plot, and the significantly good usability of the grill shelter, complete with refrigerators and sturdy masonry. In addition to solar power, a generator supplements the energy supply – meaning all appliances and lights work. The sauna steam is uniquely excellent. And it will likely improve with the upcoming renewal of the stove. Currently, the stove door doesn't stay completely closed, which makes the draft unfavorable for efficient wood burning. Special thanks for the dry firewood and its ample quantity. The swimming opportunities in conjunction with sauna bathing are the best one can imagine. And the peace of the entire place is the ultimate antithesis to a busy world. Everywhere in the area and facilities, there is a mark of tidiness and good maintenance. The helpfulness and communicativeness of the renters complement the overall picture of comfort.

It was nice to visit, even if only for one night this time. Loons made an appearance and a white-backed woodpecker tapped on its tree. A year has flown by since the last visit. Have a good autumn.

The cottage holiday was perfect and everything was always good there.

The place was absolutely lovely; we will definitely come again sometime.

This time we got to warm up the upper cottage properly. We have now visited the cottage a few times; the only drawback worth mentioning is perhaps the outhouse light, it could be better, it would have been dark if we hadn't had a headlamp. There could be some light near the bins. Otherwise, the place is really just our place!

A cozy, unpretentious cottage in a paradise-like setting. Clean, well-maintained. Summer kitchen with amazing views. Composting toilet clean. Pond water clear, like from a tap. A perfect vacation spot for nature lovers. 

The place is simply wonderful, it's perfect when you want to unwind and enjoy the quiet. Probably a really great place in the summer. We are a couple who enjoy nature and like to photograph and move around in nature. The large cabin was quite cold, so we had to warm it up, and the floor was cold. The kitchenette was so cold that we didn't need to put food items in the sauna cabin's refrigerator. And of course, on the first evening, we noticed that the sauna takes a bit longer to heat up than usual because it's so large. The only bad thing was the large piece of glass in the water by the sauna shore. We really enjoyed our stay at the cabin. We should have booked one more day.

Beautiful, clean and peaceful. Everything we needed was found. We couldn't get the cabin warm, but it was warm enough to sleep. I warmly recommend it.

We came to relax, and it exceeded all expectations!

Sun, +30°C warmth, and someone had already prepared the firewood, cleaned the cabins and yard areas, emptied the outhouse, etc. etc..

The only downside is having to leave ☹ But no worries, we'll be back.. :)

With temperatures almost reaching 30 degrees Celsius and Valkealampi cottage becoming available due to a cancellation, we didn't have to think twice – we quickly made the reservation and packed our bags. The cottage was familiar from years ago, but this beautiful peninsula was even more stunning, as the premises had been tidied and spruced up. But the place was as beautiful as I remembered – you'd be hard-pressed to find another spot as idyllic! And what's great, there's electricity now (solar power), so the fridge could be filled with cold drinks and BBQ treats. On the sauna terrace, it's wonderful to enjoy the warmth of the sun and then take a dip in the lake from the end of the pier. As evening approaches, turn on the sauna, and from its window, you can admire the lake's surface. The sauna can accommodate a good number of people, and when admiring the sunset, you just can't stop saunading and swimming. The BBQ area is also wonderful – you couldn't cook in a more beautiful spot! At the tip of the peninsula, there's also a smoke box, in case you catch some fish. Many fish swim near the pier, and they are easy to observe because the water is so clear. But pictures speak a thousand words – 5/5 perfect summer weekend!
