During guided tours, you will learn extensively by walking about the history and present day of the Hiitolanjoki, also known as Kokkolanjoki, river, its hiking trails, power plant rapids and free-flowing rapids, nature and activities, as well as the near future concerning restoration and tourism from Lake Ladoga to the headwaters of the water system and Lake Saimaa. Arrival and transfers by own cars. Special attractions include Lahnasenkoski power plant museum, Uudensilta backwater's submerged wood bio-purifier, and Silamusjoki's wilderness viewpoint. Your guide is Mikko Europaeus, a long-term special expert, researcher, non-fiction author, experienced kayaker, project coordinator, and chairman of the Hiitolanjoki Association.

There is an option for self-arranged campfire dining at Lahnanen campfire shelter or Kangaskoski lean-to, in which case additional time must be reserved for this.
