During guided tours, you will learn extensively by walking about the history and present day of the Hiitolanjoki, also known as Kokkolanjoki, river, as well as hiking trails, power plant rapids and free-flowing rapids, nature and activities, and the near future regarding restoration and tourism from Lake Ladoga to the headwaters of the water system and all the way to Lake Saimaa. Arrival and transfers with own cars. Special sites include the Lahnasenkoski power plant museum, the Uudensilta backwater submerged wood bioremediation plant, and the wilderness-like viewpoint of Silamusjoki. Guide: Mikko Europaeus, long-time special expert, researcher, non-fiction author, test paddler, project coordinator, and chairman of the Hiitolanjoki Association.

Opportunity for self-catering campfire meals at Lahnanen campfire shelter or Kangaskoski lean-to, in which case additional time must be reserved for this.
